Position Summary:
The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Coordinator is a full-time position within Circle and it is a critical position to help the Company achieve its mission. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate food safety documentation, supporting regulatory and customer audits, assisting with food safety and quality records, and ensuring compliance with SQF, FDA, USDA Organic, and internal standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with production teams to resolve quality and food safety issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively support production by investigating quality incidents, deviations, nonconformances, and product holds, performing root cause analysis, and coordinating corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SQF Food Safety System and USDA Organic certification program.
- Assist with internal audits, GMP inspections, customer audits, and third party certification audits
- Support regulatory compliance activities including traceability, mock recalls, label reviews, supplier approval, organic material traceability, and mass balance
- Review, verify, and trend food safety records including CCPs, preventive controls, sanitation, pest control, allergen control, and environmental monitoring
- Create, edit, implement and manage quality records and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for company processes and controls
- Support food safety and quality training programs, including coordination of training sessions and maintenance of training records
- Spend regular time on the production floor verifying GMPs, food safety practices and process controls
Qualifications:
The experiences that a qualified candidate will have are:
- Experience in food safety and/or quality assurance within a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
- Either HACCP -certified, PCQI-certified or SQF-certified or a commitment to achieving all certifications within 3 months of starting in the position.
- Experience in conducting internal audits, implementing corrective measures and training others.
- Working knowledge of SQF, FDA (21 CFR 117), and GMP requirements
- Proficiency with document control systems, record retention, and audit documentation
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with:
- Google Sheets or similar software
- Electronic document control systems and digital recordkeeping
- Data entry, tracking, trending, and report generation for quality and food safety data
- Ability to accurately manage multiple datasets, maintain data integrity, and support audit readiness
