Position Summary:

The Overnight Team Lead (Batching & Quality Control) serves as the senior departmental presence and primary point of contact during overnight operations. Reporting to the Batching & Quality Control Manager, this role ensures the seamless execution of batching and quality processes when day-shift management is off-site. While this position does not have direct supervisory authority (e.g., hiring/firing), the Team Lead is the first line of escalation for technical issues, departmental concerns, and immediate staffing needs like absence coverage. This role is vital to upholding Circle Beverage’s core values of taking care of people and delivering on commitments throughout our 24-hour operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Shift Leadership & Escalation

● Serve as the senior person in the building for the Batching and QC departments during overnight shifts.

● Act as the first point of contact for any departmental concerns, equipment failures, or process deviations.

● Coordinate immediate response to personnel gaps or absence coverages to ensure production remains on schedule.

● Provide regular shift handoff reports to the Manager to ensure continuity across a 24-hour cycle.

● Proposed schedule - Sunday through Thursday, 7:30 PM - 2:00 AM, with on-call hours set by the Batching & Quality Control Manager.

Batching Operations Support

● Oversee the execution of the end-to-end batching process, including pick lists, kitting, blending, and spec sign-offs.

● Ensure all Batching Technicians are following established SOPs and maintaining high standards for food safety and sanitation.

● Assist in troubleshooting issues with batching room equipment and departmental assets.

Quality Control Oversight

● Verify the completion of hourly FSQA checksheets, product inspections, seam checks, and fill level checks.

● Support the QC technicians in sensory evaluation and batch spec sign-offs.

● Monitor adherence to quality SOPs and escalate any gaps in process or product quality immediately.

Culture & Safety

● Act as a steward of company culture, modeling Circle Beverage's core values on the overnight shift.

● Support internal safety initiatives and ensure the overnight team adheres to all safety protocols and GMPs.

● Assist the Manager in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement (CI) within overnight workflows.

● Support the Manager in training, development, and performance management within the department.

● Enstill Food Safety and general workplace safety practices during the overnight shifts.


Qualifications:

The experiences that a qualified candidate will have are: 

● Experience: Previous experience in beverage manufacturing, specifically in blending, batching, or quality control.

● Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead by example, provide technical guidance, and make critical decisions under pressure without direct supervision.

● Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety, GMPs, and quality control regulations.

● Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective shift handoffs and escalation reporting.

● Preferred: Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, or food safety certifications (PCQI).
